September highlights the Phage Valley’s role with two conferences in Ghent
September was a significant month for the Belgian Phage Valley, which successfully hosted two major international conferences in Ghent.
On September 10-11, the highly anticipated first edition of The Phage Protein Meeting brought together the global community to discuss the latest advancements in using phage proteins for biocontrol and diagnostics. Organized by the research group led by Prof. Yves Briers (UGent), the conference provided a platform for presenting the latest fundamental insights, sharing fresh clinical data on phage lysins, and holding an interactive panel debate focused on accelerating the move of phage lysins into the clinic.
The momentum continued on September 12 with the 4th annual symposium of the Belgian Society for Viruses of Microbes (BSVM). Co-organized by UGent and HoGent, the event featured a comprehensive program covering clinical phage therapy and fundamental and applied research related to viruses of microbes. A highlight of the symposium was the exclusive premiere of the new Phage Valley video for the audience.
